Met veel genoegen heb ik de premaster van de nieuwe CD van het orkest Romanesca beluisterd. U kunt “Sirocco” nu kant en klaar in uw cd speler schuiven om dat genoegen met mij te delen. Het speelplezier spat eraf en in het titelstuk hoort men duidelijk dat we hier te maken hebben met buitengewoon capabele muzikanten, die niet terugdeinzen voor een 7/4 maat. Ook werd ik getroffen door meerdere fraaie improvisatie-solo’s. In het bijzonder de opvallende gitaarsolo’s en de smaakvolle bassolo’s in Armando’s Rhumba. De bassist verdient naar mijn idee sowieso een eervolle vermelding. Een prachtig volle toon en samen met de gitarist een sluitende ritmische eenheid. Fraai opgenomen, transparant en toch homogeen. Voeg daarbij de smeltende Oost-Europese vioolklank, de nostalgische vocale bijdragen en de breedheid van het repertoire en u heeft de ingrediënten in huis voor een uur muziekplezier. With great pleasure I listened to the premaster of the new CD Sirocco from orchestra Romanesca. One can obviously tell by listening to the title song we are dealing with extremely capable musicians, who do not shy away from a 7/4. I was also struck by several fine improvisational solos, in particular the striking guitar solo and tasteful bass solos in Armando's Rhumba. The bass player deserves an honorable mention for a beautiful full tone and together with the guitarist the result is a balanced rhythmic unit. Well recorded, transparent and yet homogeneous. Add to this the melting Eastern European violin sound, the nostalgic vocal contributions and the breadth of the
repertoire and you have the ingredients for  a great hour of music.
